Stella Cook is a active member of Our Lady of the Rosary parish. Stella was born in Canora, Saskatchewan on October 20, l940, and raised on the family farm five-and-a-half miles from Rama, Saskatchewan. She attemded a one-room country school for grades 1 to 8, located a mile from her home; grades 9 and 10 at the Rama high school; and grades 11 and 12 at Sacred Heart Academy boarding school in Yorkton, Saskatchewan. Stella attended Teachers College in Saskatoon, then went began her teaching career in Saskatchewan, Alberta, and Ontario.

Stella married Tom, and eventually moved to Vancouver Island. They have two sons, and two granddaughters.

Stella has been a member of the CWL for 40 years. She has held the position of President of the Ascension Council in Parksville and served several years on the Victoria Diocesan council. She presently holds the Chair position at our Lady of the Rosary Council and is a member we can always count on to help us whenever she is asked.

Some of Stella’s hobbies are walking, reading, and gardening. Stella enjoyed the position of President at Ascension, and had fun modeling at one of their Council’s fashion shows.

Stella considers Fr. Mike Favero a very special mentor who gave her encouragement and support during her term as President, as well as Tina Hanlon, who helped her with her the Christian Family Life Chair on the Victoria Diocesan Council.

Stella would like to give this advice to our members: “Keep an open mind, and do not be intimidated!”
